Are you hurting?
Are you cursive?
Where’s your mercy?
Are you drunk?
I followed the trail of your blood
I watched the room go up
you smell like petrol
and the phone lines are cut
the curtains are burning
and all that I see
is your body hiding from me
Are you hurting?
Are you cursive?
Where’s your mercy?
Are you drunk?
I followed the trail of your blood
Would you treat yourself the way you treat
everyone you love?
Haven’t you suffered enough?
the ceremony
kick the door in
break the hinges
I’ve been practising all of my stitches.
screaming out your name
but you’re never listening.
sedentary,
while you handcuff yourself to your seat
you say it’s the best
and you won’t hurt anybody else
choking as you swallow the key
Are you hurting?
Are you cursive?
Where’s your mercy?
Are you drunk?
I followed the trail of your blood
Would you treat yourself the way you treat
everyone you love?
Haven’t you suffered enough?
I won’t be leaving quietly
after the way you’ve spoken to me
come down from the balcony
your kindness, you’ve earned it
but your body a furnace
I won’t let you burn in it.
Are you hurting?
Are you cursive?
Where’s your mercy?
Are you drunk?
I followed the trail of your blood
Would you treat yourself the way you treat
everyone you love?
Haven’t you suffered enough?
Have you hurt enough?

Romance of Affliction somehow makes an old genre feel brand new. Amazing. I would have swore this album was from 2005 if I didn't see with my own eyes it wasn't. SYSC takes everything good about mid-00s metalcore and brings it into the modern day, leaving behind the trash. It's a pure distillation of the genre with brilliant structure, pacing, and lyrics. The album ebbs and flows, letting emotions swell before punching in with some of the most intense passages I've heard in a while. rettisawesome
I like the direction the band went on this record.
They took the atmosphere of TDP, and made it grittier and dirtier - it's reminding me of bands like Deftones in the best possible way.
There are a few tracks that I'm struggling to like, but even those have memorable moments that make me want to replay them again. Vivian
beyond all else, Alexisonfire have always been the absolute best at what they do. This LP is no different. It's such a rare and amazing thing to be listening to the same band for 20 yrs and still be blown away by their talent, progression, and pure commitment to what they do. Nothing else to say but thanks. eliel
